  • I reached out to CS as I also noted lower TDS specs (notice that PLA not plus/pro has higher levels then PLA Pro that we all love), they responded with a generic plan to take my and others concerns into consideration.

They say that the new PLA Pro has a “decent increase in impact strength” which is what we are mostly worried about and not a spec on the TDS. But also confirm the TDS as correct and being lower then Polylite PLA Pro in most stats.

They then teased “upcoming products that can likely hit these needs as well”. So potentially another new branding/ product that may work better? Guess we’ll see

  • I looked over the Geneva Breacher, and it looks like it’s a weaker option over the Odin. My understanding is that the Odin is one of the strongest designs so far released. Its 40mm options being one of the proofs of this statement.

However, how much stronger and if that really matters is highly up for debate. Either way aesthetics will likely be a big part of people’s choice too.

I think I’m resolved to only do a 10 pc MOQ so if it doesn’t work out then I should be able to move that many and close up.

Also looking at doing a Pipehitter kit based on recommendations from some interested people but that will be in the $85-90 range since its BOM is a mess.

  • I’m far from a material engineer so take what I’m saying with a healthy pinch of salt. The 304 tubing I’m sure is fine, but 4130 has higher Rockwell hardness. MCMC doesn’t show comparable pressure ratings for their 4130 and the 304 so its hard to gauge but hardness is going to be an okay sub at these pressures. 37mm is as I understand a low pressure round and can have a bit of a hotdog down a hallway effect anyways.

However my tubing is roughly $20 cheaper for the same 4 8in tubes and comes precut so I don’t have to use my eyeballs and gunsmif degree to cut a sloppy angle.

And I’d much rather have a (likely slightly) better tube with minimal inputs over a more expensive labor-intensive tubing.

  • If you buy a kit from me it is lol

But I honestly can’t say, I haven’t built one due to never being able to find a kit. Which is why I want to in the first place.

I will say, this was considered one of the best and strongest designs as it is rated for 40mm which puts more stress on the components.

My idea is if I move forward with making kits, I’ll build one or two for myself to test before buying parts and making a mistake on customer kits. Have the parts printing currently so should be able to test this soon
