I laughed. And then I got curious and looked it up. Kate Winslet was 22 during the filming of Titanic. Her character was 19.
The joke is about actor Leonardo DiCaprio’s dating preferences.
I genuinely don’t get it
Leo has a thing about dating women of a certain age IRL. To a hilarious degree. Nearly every one of his openly admitted girlfriends were dropped at the same age, where shortly after, he would find a younger woman to date and start the cycle anew.
I think 27 was chosen specifically too. 26 would have been a tighter upper bound.
I love this graph because of how succinctly it summarizes info. But I also hate this graph because it is missing like 10 or 15 other women he has dated of several ages that break the neat pattern. Also, it hides how only like two of those relationships were truly serious, the rest are gossip and tabloid speculation from having seen him “next to them”. It is all very speculative. He does have a weird thing for younger women, but I think that part of it is that most single women on his social circle are going to be aspiring and upcoming super models.
Oh no, I have been a part of disinfographics propagation. Thanks for the correction. It seems some of the older women (31, Laura Whitman for instance) were not a confirmed long term relationship but there are some rumors that DiCaprio romantically pursued them.
He famously doesn’t date women who are older than 25. Someone on reddit made a great infographic if you want to google it.

DiCaprio has a ton of power and draw in the biz. Chalamet is a starting star. Sure is younger, more attractive and also a great actor, but still doesn’t have the money and influence that DiCaprio possess.

Access to money and it’s trappings is usually the reason young women date old guys. The golddigger cliche. People will put up with a lot for the right price

I think he’s gay, and these women are hired to be his beards. Part of the deal for them is that they get exposure, and also a chance to rub elbows with the Hollywood elite. All of which would be a lot more enticing to someone just starting out in life and their career.
That would make too much sense. Plausible.
It could also be that they still aren’t that emotionally mature and when they turn 25 they realize what a weird situation they are in and thus leave him. I do think it has to be a mutual agreement. It’s too tight to be a coincide and thus far Leo has never been in any scandal or negative comments about the relationships and he is still friends with a lot of them. So, it’s weird, but not in a “creep abuser” kind of weird. I just think he is emotionally stunted from so much fame and power from an early age. It fucks up social development.

Leo’s behavior isn’t very socially acceptable, but he isn’t a pedophile.
His explanation is that he doesn’t have any interest in starting a family or having children, and he thinks that the drive to do so for women kicks in in the mid-to-late twenties. Women he dates know this going in, they know it’s never going to go anywhere real, they know there’s an end date. They get to participate in his lifestyle, they get to meet a bunch of important people, etc, in exchange for a sexual relationship with a very wealthy, attractive man.
They’re young, but they’re adults capable of making decisions for themselves. Maybe some will regret it later, others won’t. But regardless, it’s a mutual agreement between adults.
Gross? Creepy? Yeah, especially the older he gets. Sexist? Oh absolutely. 100%. Pedophilic? No.

It’s gross, but has nothing at all to to with pedophilia. 18+ women don’t have pre-puberty child-like features.
He dates women that are able to vote, are you saying that women at this age can’t manage themselves ? Pretty sexist innit ?
The bar is kind of low these days, so the fact that he doesn’t go lower still somehow makes him better than a large chunk of famous people.
