I just find it funny that things like Montana’s, Boston Pizza and New York Fries are Canadian. Any other American-named places that are Canadian?
Not exactly the same as what you mean, but A&W.
A&W restaurants here in Canada are entirely Canada owned and operated, based out of BC.
TIL A&W was originally a subsidiary of its US parent company, but was then bought out by Canadians and separated/privatized!
The company was initially a subsidiary of the U.S.-based A&W Restaurants chain, with the subsidiary opening its first franchise in Winnipeg in 1956. In 1972, Unilever acquired A&W’s Canadian operations, leading to the subsidiary’s separation from the U.S.-based company. In 1995, a Canadian management group made up of A&W franchisees took ownership of the chain from Unilever.
The A&W chain in Canada remains privately owned and is headquartered in North Vancouver. As of 2022, A&W was Canada’s second-largest fast-food hamburger chain with 1,029 franchises, after McDonald’s.

They use better ingredients than McDonald’s too.
They’re basically the only fast food I buy anymore.
- New Orlean’s Pizza
- East Side Mario’s
- St. Louis Bar & Grill
Not American-named, but Swiss Chalet is also Canadian.
I suspect most “foreign” named restaurants will never actually be from that place.
My god was East Side Mario’s disappointing when I tried it again about 2 years ago… Sure has gone down in quality and up in price.
Oh good ones! Forgot about the staple, New Orlean’s Pizza!
Two others are Lone Star Texas Grill, and Baton Rouge Grillhouse & Bar.
