I don’t know what kind of apartment you live in, but my apartment is several times larger than the inside of his sail boat. It’s also not endangering the cat’s life. But hey, some of us like cats… some of us just think a pet is a slave.
Ships have frequently had cats on them basically since the inception of seafaring.
Cats’ personalities vary wildly, it’s not hard to believe that many would be just fine with it.
I have personally watched a cat in a raft go through class 2-3 rapids in a tiny little life vest having the time of his life.

Former wildlife carer myself, absolutely. Cat seems to have had a pretty decent time, and no wildlife was injured by it, so that’s great.
Technically not impossible, but if the cat manages to catch a bird that landed on the boat, more power to it
A ship’s cat is good luck though.
So are rabbit feet, depending on who you ask.
