“Dumbphone” price: $500
Edit: Years ago my phone broke and didn’t feel like spending money on a new one so I purchased a prepaid $20 candy bar style dumbphone and used it for 6 months.
The only reason I ended up buying a smartphone was FOMO. Not necessarily because I needed one but because I felt like I was missing out on “things”.
In truth, I don’t know if I really was. I’ve had this smartphone for 5 years and I’m wondering what I’ll do when this one dies.
It’s a lot of money, but the point of the dumbphone community (as outlined in the sidebox) is not about money but about regaining control of one’s life.
Very cool. If it was $120 I’d have ordered it already.
Note to future self on ebay.
