There’s one in my town that is black. With black writing on it that says police. The only way to see the text is to see the difference in sheen between the paint and the writing.

Yeah, cops call this ghost marking. They do it to skirt around the laws regarding marked vs unmarked vehicles. Unmarked vehicles have stricter requirements, so cops ghost mark their vehicles and say “look, they’re technically not unmarked, so they don’t have to follow all of those stricter rules.”

Cop cars are very distinct. Big white and black SUVs with guard rails and big ass lights. They look like they’re going to run you over fun. I call em intimidation transports.
This isn’t completely accurate. I live in South Saint Paul and some of our police have Ford Explorers with no visible light bars and dark blue lettering on black paint.
I’ve seen state patrol make stops on 494 between the Wakota bridge and 35E in dark blue unmarked chargers.
They’re relatively new I think but that same trend of low-profile police cars has started here now too.

A reporter who saw the vehicle said that it would look like a police vehicle from a distance and at night, but during the day it looked off, like you’d think ‘that might not be a real cop’.
And they’ve identified the suspect and he’s not a cop.
New information shows it was a security company run by evangelicals that he worked for. So his vehicle likely was intentionally looking like police. Could even have lights on top. And they could wear uniforms, carry most anything a cop can, the badge would be different, but at 2am…

Are there actually no safeguards against this? It seems like a pretty big fucking flaw in a democratic system if you can kill the opposing elected officials in order to gain control of the state. Like their votes should temporarily go to someone else in the party or something, not just be wiped out completely.

Sen. Walz posted on Bluesky for people to not go to protests and there were 400 comments of mostly people saying they were going anyways. Was nice to see.
Walz is governor. His statement is intentional. He needs to be seen as “giving good advice”.
He knows it won’t stop anyone. Just like during the George Floyd protests. He knows what he’s doing.

Of course we’re still going to go but it’s only right for our representatives to make sure we, as Minnesotans, can make that decision with full understanding of the safety risks.
Some people will get busted up and arrested if not worse. We’d all be safe and sound just sitting at home, watching TV and flipping through tiktok, for some time, until we can’t breathe, we’re forced out of our homes because we can’t afford them or we’re in the way of a golf course, we lose our kids because we told them a man can love another man, we can’t go anywhere because every road is busted or costs money to use, our profession becomes non-existent from AI doing everything, and we die of cancer because health insurance is “our own responsibility” as is navigating insurance bureaucracy.

Well they found the vehicle and it was a non-police vehicle disguised as police. So while this doesn’t 100% rule out it being police, it seems a reasonable inference.

The suspect in the assassination and attempted assassination of two Minnesota lawmakers has been identified as Vance Boelter, two law enforcement officials briefed on the case tell CNN.
Boelter is 57 years old and according to a law enforcement official, he works for a security company, Praetorian Guard Security. The company website says that Boelter serves as the director of security patrols and has had training by people in the US military.
