Technically, that’s true. A fair bit of investigation would help, but friend Patel isn’t in much of a hurry, now is he? And this was never an issue before either, when it was - say - the Clintons’ heads that were gonna roll, why is that then?
Maybe if we had a functional government that gave a shit about innocent until proven guilty then this excuse would hold water. They shouldn’t release the files; they should use them as the basis for investigations and eventual prosecutions, because nobody can say for sure if every person on the list is guilty. But we can tell the excuses are bullshit because they’re just gonna sweep it all under the rug and pretend it didn’t happen,

If that concern were actually relevant and not merely an excuse, mob justice would fail to consider innocence. That’s seen repeatedly. Merely an excuse seems likely, but…
The thing I could imagine is that the list being something like a contact list, and Epstein treated celebrity contact information as a status symbol. If the list is a ledger of otherwise off book transactions, or a lost of people complete with blackmail material, then I can’t see how they could even try to make the argument about innocent caught up in the list.
Either way if they have a district list, put aside releasing the list for a moment, where’s the legal system enforcement actions?

You know whose lives I’m concerned about? The children whom these monsters raped. Does anyone care that their lives were destroyed?
If you choose to rape children, don’t complain that your life is “destroyed” just because you have to face consequences. You did this to yourself and deserve every consequence you receive.

That’s an odd piece of this puzzle - where did those children end up? Dead? Threatened into silence (like the girl who had a lawsuit against Trump that was dropped around his first election?)
Epstein famously received an unprecedented federal non-prosecution plea deal in 2008. There were dozens of victims who had come forward in those charges, but they (along with anyone else who hadn’t come forward) were instantly disenfranchised by that deal. The prosecutor who arranged that plea deal was Alex Acosta (who went on to serve as Labor Secretary under Trump 45 🤔).
I’m not sure, I never heard anything. Though considering what happened to Epstein, I imagine they might have preferred to stay out of the spotlight.
