Ironically the page tilt is quite jarring on smartphone devices
That’s true. I might tone that down a bit.
Just fixed that. I obviously don’t have a smartphone to test it out on, but in the dev tools in Firefox it seems to work fine ;)
Sick as fuck! I think my “dumbphone” needs to be a device type that wouldn’t be listed here, but I could see this being super useful to folks!
I do wish you could check a box to ignore a given slider if you’re not concerned about a given axis, I always struggle with these sorts of interfaces for finding stuff cause it feels like it might hide stuff from me that I’d want to see
(I need to be able to run signal, discord, rcs, so it’d probably need android, and I ideally want a small screen that’d be crap for social media while still being able to type well for messaging, so a querty keyboard would be perfect. The closest fit right now seems like the unihertz Titan line, maybe the “pocket” model will have a refresh by the time I need a new phone. Alternatively maybe an e-ink smartphone would also be an option? I’ve got a while to figure it out though, I just bought my current phone a bit ago)
Just letting you know, i have had a titan pocket for a few months now and it fits all your requirements except running discord. it struggles to load some newer “heavy” apps so i have switched to browser for things like banking. I absolutely love it tho.
Yeah, pretty much the only heavy thing I NEED is my GPS, and I figure if it runs okay I can plug it into an android auto screen I can get for cheap to put in my car so I have a big enough display
It’ll be years before it’s time to replace my phone though, I wish I had realized I wanted something different from my phone a bit sooner, but I’m not really inclined to just go out and buy another phone, I wanna make my current one last unless it becomes clear I really need to change. But at least I can start making changes that’ll make it easier to adjust later on :)
I’ve added a lot more friction to anything mindless, and turned down the satuation on my display. So far those have been very helpful changes. Hopefully when I’m ready to replace there’s another small Titan phone or something similar that’d be suitable. Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m really glad it’s working so well for you! 😊
(Also your username is super cute lol)
If you need to run any sort of messaging apps, you’re pretty much out of luck with non-Android dumbphones. It might be that some KaiOS phones have a Signal client (they did for Telegram and WhatsApp at one point) but I wouldn’t place your bets on it.
The way I do it, is that I have WhatsApp at home only on my computer, and for everything else I just use SMS/calling. Feels more like I’m reliving the MSN days :)
