Is there any indication that this old peeling paint contains asbestos? (Sorry for the picture link but my lemmy server is not currently working with attachments). Thanks.

    Asbestos is normally in the texture under the paint, not the paint itself. (Not that it can’t be in paint but the texture is a different thing)

    I don’t believe you can visually identify asbestos in paint and or other materials. There may be indicators but to be sure you need it tested.

    In my neck of the US, I was required to take samples to a lab for testing prior to dumping during a remodel. Think it was about 135 for exterior paint and plater/drywall. Check your local regulations.

    You need to look at a sample under a microscope to tell.

    You could simply bind it with another paint and leave it be.
