So what’s to stop them from shopping online or going out of state to buy a 3d printer?

I live in Central New York, and have driven over 4 hours to take my wife to an IKEA. I can drive out of state to buy printer parts at a microcenter in New Jersey.

Ok, here’s my idea…and stay with me on this, it gets complicated.

Criminal penalties for any elected official that votes for a law that is later ruled unconstitutional, because it’s treason against the USA.

ok, I guess it wasn’t that complicated at all.

I think if there was a chance of going to prison, legislators wouldn’t be passing laws that skirt anywhere close to constitutional lines

It’s wild, to be sure, but the chances of this going anywhere are pretty minimal.

I feel like this would psychologically backfire. I could imagine a kid buying a printer just because he’s getting into arts/crafts/engineering etc. - “aRe YoU uSiNg ThIs To PrInT pEwS?!” Well he wasn’t before but thanks for the idea

Yeah exactly. And just by proposing the law inadvertently admits that it’s legit. There’s a huge percentage of ppl who think they’ll still blow their hand off or the technology is a decade away, so they stay far away from 3d2a. This law is basically a strangely worded greeting to the printed pews world

What about metal lathes? Or cnc milling machines? Are they going to restrict who can or can’t buy a file? This is ridiculous. Guns are simple. Pin hits powder, powder goes bang, bang moves bullet. Heck, gunpowder isn’t even that hard to mix together, and neither is building a bullet press.

Wouldn’t you just buy Voron kits or build yourself?

The kind of people who 3D print illegal guns aren’t the type to care you made the guns one more level of illegal.

Those that legally print guns won’t be in New York or should have left over the crime or other various issues.

The activist guy who recently got stabbed had his girlfriend trying to keep the guy free.

There was a mechanic who was closing up the shop and got attacked, took the robber’s gun in self-defense, and shot him. They were both charged with crimes.

Gtfo of New York or get dead by criminal or jailed by a cop for defending your right to life.
