A bit over a month ago, a user posted in !main@sh.itjust.works to propose defederating from maga.place. That post was followed by a discussion in !agora@sh.itjust.works a week ago, which seems to have gained some traction. In response, we’re going to hold a vote on the matter. Voting will be open for one week, through Friday, November 7.
The Agora discussion post is here:

Only sh.itjust.works accounts created prior to today (October 31) may cast a vote.
Vote by commenting either yes/aye/oui or nay/no/non.
Any further discussion should happen in the Agora post linked above.

VOTE RESULT
yes/aye/oui: 363
nay/no/non: 43
By my count, that’s 363 YES vs 43 NO.
That’s out of 416 top-level local comments.
The keen eyed will notice a discrepancy of 10 votes which were not counted by the query. Those were not counted for not being in the keyword list:

There’s also a duplicate yes vote from the same person_id, which I’ve removed.
202 comments weren’t even votes, the discussion goes in the other thread, folks.
24 comments from remote accounts were removed. That about sums it up.
Yes.
Yes
But: this is going against my belief to not create self-reinforcing echo chambers. I truly believe it’s better to meet them and challenge their (rather stupid) opinions, but MAGA has just gone too far for me to even bother trying.
No
I haven’t experienced any issues from their users, nor have I seen any evidence of their users causing problems. IMO, defederation should only happen if working w/ their admins to deal with their users who cause problems doesn’t work, not because we disagree with content on their instance.
