    • Brush: Maggard Razors - Tuxedo 24mm Synthetic
    • Razor: RazoRock GOAT - 🐐
    • Blade: Zorrik Super Platinum (3)
    • Lather: Murer & Wirtz - Tabac - Tallow - Soap
    • Post Shave: Murer & Wirtz - Tabac - Aftershave
    • Post Shave: Nivea - Sensitive Beard & Face - Balm
    • Fragrance: Noble Otter - Hamami - EdP

Tabac aftershave (or rather, "Lotion") is a lot more floral than the soap. It goes so well with Hamami. This was a good idea.

A PieFed note. the ‘ä’ in Mäurer did not come through correctly for me in your comment.

I agree with you about the Lotion. It broadens the overall Tabac scent from the soap. The EdT adds a lot of sophistication to it and also stands alone well.

Indeed, I’ve noticed this problem too, and have tracked it down to Baserow (which is what the SDS is) and not PieFed. I’ve filed a bug with Baserow, but this reminds me I should check on it. I filed it right as they were switching over from GitLab to GitHub.

Primidi 11 Brumaire an 234 de la Révolution, jour de Salsifis

I underloaded the soap, and had to get back to the tub. The base is very slick, but I am still no fan of the scent.

    Have a good day!

I had to bust out this sample of Christmas Eve to welcome in BBS November. I very much look forward to picking up a full set this holiday season.

Last year BBS November (where we add an extra Second Luxury Shave every day) was a turning point for my technique. I'm not sure I'll be able to hit every shave this year, but I'm going to make an effort.

Two passes, close results, no irritation.

Glad to see that I’m not alone this year. There are many positives to BBS November. You get more intensive access to your soap and hardware inventory, there’s time optimization to consider, and there’s ample opportunity to work on technique.

    • Brush: Elite Razor Neo-resinate 26mm Mother Lode
    • Razor: Tatara Amakuni
    • Blade: Feather Artist Club Professional (2)
    • Lather: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Soap
    • Toner: Thayers - Cucumber - Toner
    • Aftershave: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Aftershave
    • Fragrance: Barrister and Mann - Hallows - Eau de Toilette

2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.

A luxurious shave to open November. I love this dark grassy scent. It’s far too good for short-term use. I’ll use it during all of these cold months.

Well, BBS November is underway. As I acquire more soaps, the attractiveness of using more than one per day increases. I treat BBS November as No-Shave November for wetshavers. I used to grow a beard in November and donate to a cancer prevention organization. For the past two years, I have shaved twice a day and donated to a cancer prevention organization. Same cause, just a different approach.

Hopefully, @djundjila@sub.wetshaving.social , who got me into this, is playing along this month as well.

This year I’m adding Novemboar to the mix and using a boar brush for my two shaves per day. Boar brushes always benefit from extra use. When December rolls around I too feel like a hobo when returning to one shave per day :)

    01.11.2025 - Moustache November

    • Brush: RazoRock Beehive 28 mm
    • Razor: RazoRock Cyber Medium w/ Superknurl handle
    • Blade: BIC Chrome Platinum
    • Lather: House of Mammoth - Tobacconist
    • Post-Shave: OAM - Oli del benessere sensitive skin toner; Alterra Men sensitive ASB
    • Passes & Info: 2 passes on both dome and face (minus the 'stache area). A few blood spots all around due to a new blade and some redness on the neck again. OK shave.

Damn folks, it’s already November. Time flies by, right?

Anyway, I picked yet another mild razor and good soap to dial my technique for face shaving in again. I used a fresh BIC blade though and they’re unusually keen out of the box. A few blood spots were there on my head and face - can’t really call them nicks or weepers since a) I don’t feel them, they just appear and b) they stop bleeding after rinsing with cold water or using an aftershave toner.

I also have to admit that I still struggle with technique. Especially with missing certain spots - once I put my glasses back on, I actually had to get a few missed hairs under my jawbone. There’s also the fact that I have a resting five o’clock shadow due to my pale skin and dark facial hair. Which actually doesn’t bother me, since it looks kinda cool. The downside is that I often have to rely on feel for a close shave, much like for my head shaves. In general though, I enjoy trying something new. I don’t expect to be able to do daily face shaves, but at least every other day should be possible.

Hope y’all have a great weekend!

This was my first shave with Spearhead or Seaforth! This base is very different from Tabac. I put tons of water in it (comparatively) and it refused to get any real structure. It just maintained a runny yogurt texture. Of course, that turned into a really slick and comfortable shave.

I started making lather and was overcome with the scent. To my wife and my noses this is almost exactly Stetson Cologne. I did a quick bit of research. Seaforth! Black Watch (1950s) pretty well predates Stetson’s original cologne (1981). So, maybe, Stetson is a dupe of Black Watch?

Anyway, good stuff. I shouldn’t have waited this long to use Spearhead.

    Have a good day!

Interesting! I’ve not seen others make the connection between Black Watch and Stetson.

I don’t have their cologne, but the Stetson aftershave splash does feel like it’s in the Black Watch direction.
