A 19-year-old Mount Gambier woman has appeared in court for the first time accused of damaging the city’s controversial Cast in Blue sculpture by sticking googly eyes on it

Art in the eye of the beholder ? I’d say she improved it :)

The Cast in Blue sculpture received some public backlash over its appearance and because it cost the City of Mount Gambier $136,000 at the same time as rates increased by 10 per cent in 2024 and by 8 per cent in 2025.

Well, I assume if that’s the case, those whom approved it will be punished come election time.

Pretty sure the council guys used graffiti removal on those stickers and cooked the paint.

    Scrubber would have sufficed.

What an absolute mad lass, I hope she gets shouted beers and/or court fees in lieu of payment for fixing the installation.

How is it supposed to endure exposure to the weather if the paint is so easily damaged?

And no bird poop to worry about?

Birds probably killed off by mining pollution long ago. Legend has it they were large, and glossy blue without eyes.

Can only presume the council drunk when they approved this?
Ms Vanderhorst should be given a large reward for improving it
