TBH Obsidian is a shell of former self by this time.

I see The Outer Worlds 1 as a Bethesda lite game, it’s similar in many ways, but is more focused and have less empty meaningless “explorarion”, not the greatest or memorable game like Morrowind, Skyrim or New Vegas, but not absolutely bloated and borimg like Fallout 4 or that other space game bethesda launched than i can’t recall the name now.

Avower was being sale as “Skyrim 2” and i bought on launch, end up being another “good” game, once again not memorable but with exploration and gameplay good enough, still regreat a little for buying on launch.

If the Obsidian RPG means more like Fallout New Vegas and Outer Worlds 1, I’m good with it. Avowed was… not great, and I haven’t tried TOW2.

Dissing Baldur’s Gate and Cyberpunk 2077 seems like a bit of a stretch for Obsidian now. Had they just come off Outer Worlds 1, maybe I could see it, but both of those games are above anything they’ve done in the last decade. AND both of those games are on Mac — Obsidian games require spyware (Windows). While they’re throwing blows… something about glass houses. Oh, wait, they’re owned by Microsoft, and thus beholden to that platform.

I would recommend reading Apple’s privacy policy. There is a lot of comforting language, but they collect a lot of data and de facto can share it with whoever they feel like.

The key issue is their definition of “third parties for their own marketing purposes” and “partners and service providers” which they control. Let’s be real, do you honestly expect to able to beat Apple in a court (US no less, which is a highly corrupt society) around the exact meaning of these definitions.

As designed (e.g. inability to use alternative to iCloud sync, selection of defaults for say “Share [Device] Analytics” or “Help Apple Improve Search”) Apple is just as bad as Microsoft or Google or Meta.

Just consider what % of Apple ecosystem users have iCloud syn enabled? A service that you cannot run your own server or connect to a third-party provider.

Don’t get me wrong, I am only happy for companies to release games on MacOS. But the notion that Apple is any better than Microsoft, Meta or Google or privacy is false. In some cases they are far worse, for example they all data of Chinese Apple users with the CCP. Google at least claims to not do that.
