Many moons ago, I was involved in this niche online forum community that shut down a few years back. I never met the people in person, but I loved chatting to them and hearing their stories. These people were some of the brightest I’ve ever encountered (they were nerdy), but struggled quite a bit. One of them randomly popped into my head before. We used to have journey journals over there. She would journal about how depressed and hopeless she felt, but is one of the most clever people I’ve ever come across. I always wondered how such a bright person could hate themselves. Anyway. I opened Facebook, and she is now married, in her dream job, making a positive impact. I hope she is content. I hope all the people I interacted with on there are.

It makes me think that if other people can change their lives, so can I.

It may have been ugly hot and steamy today but it was perfect weather for an ebike ride. That sun and humidity would suck on a normal bike but on an ebike it was a nice breeze. This is the weather I’ve been waiting for since I got the bike

I noticed the bathroom sink was draining slowly. There was an alarming amount of manky drain hair in there. You’d think I brush my hair directly into the sink. Yucky.

I have to keep doing that for mine, it has a stupid built in plug that’s too complicated so it constantly clogs with random stuff like hair and mysterious black slime…

Ok on the discussion of tea, what do we think of reusing the teabag?

I happily will reuse it if I haven’t steeped it enough. But the flavour does tend to die and you’re left with a mug of hot water.

Also thoughts on drinking tea from a glass? Had a relative visit who moved to the UK some years ago and she would drink tea in a double-walled glass mug. I have never seen anyone do such a thing.

Reusing the teabag is a crime against Nature. Also, the tannins have developed out on the first soaking, and all the theine and caffeine has been extracted. All you get on the second soak is colour and tannin. This applies to real tea, not herbal for which I prefer to use the term ‘tisane’.

On a side note (for the barf factor) a couple I was friendly with some years ago went to Korea as Christian missionaries. They were supported by a few congregations in the south of the USA. One congregation sent them a packet of tea bags which had been used only on the left hand side (they explained in a letter that accompanied the teabags). They did this as an exercise in Christian self denial and sharing with the less fortunate. The fact that the tea bags had gone thoroughly mouldy by the time they reached Korea was not an issue that mattered to them. In spite of the postage. As an example of utterly useless performative self abnegation, this just can’t be beat imo. They hurt themselves, and the end result was utterly useless to anyone else.

Yes, I use a double walled glass mug for tea. Holds the tea at the right temperature for the whole mugful and I thoroughly approve of such tea mugs. You can buy them in Kmart.

I’ve never even thought of reusing a teabag, but I only really drink black tea and English breakfast tea like Lipton etc, not a fancy tea drinker at all. I wouldn’t re-use Lipton.

Always drink tea from a mug with a handle, there is no other way for me. Something about holding a handle which is more comforting for me. I have those double walled Bodum glasses which gather dust because the pull for the handle is too strong.

I would reuse if not so lazy. It really isn’t as good tasting but it’s fine if you just want to have another hot drink.

I tend to use generic instant coffee for no waste

I mostly don’t drink Tea tea, but will happily reuse the bags for herbal concoctions, and drink them out of glass. Red Zinger is especially pretty so it’s nice to see it.

    Dream:

Some mega rich dude wants me to a be a Guinea pig for a strict exercise and nutrition regimen so I can win a fight against some other guy.

He thinks I’m the owner of a supermarket chain.

    The fuck?

Building is being painted. There is a boom, much crashing and bashing and beeping, and shouty men peering in all my windows. Feel rather trapped.
