Is there interest in monthly support crowdfunding @hosford42 to work on building a matchmaking platform for folks to find local connections of the fediverse community?
An interface to find #meatspaceFediFriends basically.

I’ll add here something I just mentioned in the non-public thread leading up to this:
Safety and security are going to be paramount for something like this. So if folks have suggestions on possible ways to ensure that, please share! The last thing I’d want to do is create something that isn’t safe to use.

I think this is a great idea, and could also include people who would be happy to find people ‘online only’ too. I know Spoonies who aren’t able to get out much and so most of their friends are online.

Exactly! Helping spoonies find local friends was kinda where this all started. Even if just to share pharmacy recommendations or covid safe places to go.
Would also love to see folks organize masked movie nights, or whatever super gentle socializing spoonies could actually access.
