Red deer are being outcompeted by sika deer in woodlands across Scotland, with experts warning the native reds’ struggles could be replicated across the country.
Sika deer were introduced to Britain in the 19th century from east Asia and are hardier, smarter, more aggressive and noisier than the red deer.
