    Madel emphasized that he supports Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s “originally stated goals” in their Operation Metro Surge in his state. He argued, though, that the operation “has expanded far beyond its stated focus on true public safety threats.”

    Earlier this month, Madel said he helped ICE officer Jonathan Ross with paperwork to get Justice Department legal representation if he is sued or charged with a crime. Ross shot and killed Renee Nicole Good earlier this month, sparking a surge of protests.
