Assembly Bill No. 1043 was approved by California governor Gavin Newsom in October of last year, and becomes active on January 1, 2027.

uh, wtf - how is that going to affect Linux? 💀
The people writing this law don’t know what it is. They assume operating systems are Windows, masOS, Android, iOS and nothing more - all walled gardens (1 and 3 slowly becoming so). They probably haven’t even heard those names.
This is unenforceable. That doesn’t mean it won’t be signed into law.
