When I wake up, I’ll be an adult. Tomorrow is my birthday. I’m so not ready.

You might be 18 years old. But if you are adult is a different question.

    Congrats, nonetheless!

Will anything concrete change in your life — will you get kicked out of your home, will you suddenly be financially responsible for things you previously weren’t, etc.?

If it’s any consolation, a lot of us don’t feel like adults, and that’s ok! My kids seem to think I’m a grown up, so I managed to fool them at least.

Just keep learning as you go, and ask questions. We all love talking about things we know/have experience with (just ask the average Lemmy user what Linux distro you should install…), and there’s basically no such thing as “cheating” when it comes to figuring out how to be an adult.

    One day at a time!

I remember I was asked by multiple people when I turned 18 how I felt. What I felt was that that was a weird question lol. It’s not like one day passing made me suddenly feel somehow different from the day before.

Your 20s can be a lot of fun! You’ll always look back at them as the time when your body didn’t have weird aches and pains, so enjoy it!

What should I do to make the most of my 20s? It’s so hard to appreciate stuff when you don’t know what to appreciate because you’ve never lived without it before

Get into regular exercise, nothing too crazy like bodybuilding but some cardio and little bit of weights will pay dividends at 30.

Hard to suggest stuff without knowing what you’re into, but I’d definitely echo the comment by u/eyes about doing something active, preferably regularly like once or twice a week. Team sports are good for this, or if you’re not a sport-type you might try hiking or volunteering with local nature orgs.

Let your interests guide you and meet as many folks as possible. Lots of friendships to be made in your new adult life.
