Russia’s dwindling birth rate has been one of President Vladimir Putin’s main worries during his 25-year rule and with Moscow having sent hundreds of thousands of young men to the front in Ukraine over the last four years, the problem has only worsened.

Putin must be mystified as to why women don’t want kids. He probably sits in his $300 million Dacha on the Black Sea to think about it.

So the old rivalry is back, only instead of a space race, it’s a race to implement the Handmaid’s Tale.

True. These people seem determined to find some reason why people are not having kids while ignoring the reason that is staring at them in the face.

How are psychologists going to address ending unnecessary wars, closing the wealth gap with higher taxes for wealthy/no billionaires, and better prospects for the next generation than dystopian garbage fire island?

No one is required to have children. Being a parent is a choice. And it’s ok to decide not to have children. If people are pressuring you to have kids, tell them they are free to continue to procreate.

Considering this is an issue that’s affecting many countries, I expect to see this here in the US soon, too.

russia’s case is more severe in that they have a severe alcohol problem amongst the population, plus lack of replenishement since ww2, and of course sending any and all males to die in ukraine+ the ones fleeing russia. much different from places like korea, china and japan where people are overworked to death.

Yes, that’s what all this demographic collapse fear mongering stems from.

It’s actually really easy to support an aging population, you allow immigration.

That just bolsters my point that the US will probably be enacting similar policies.

Putin has all the money, it’s his reponsibility to father all the children. He doesn’t have long, he should get to work.
