      that’s so true - I’m just old and it reminds me of IRC, which reminds me most of AIM - I feel like Discord is too associated with voice chats and video games and that would be misleading, I think

      but fair enough, I do feel like most of the discord servers I am should really just be converted to Matrix spaces

    I have no idea what that is, it once I boot up my PC after work, I’ll probably join.

    I saw that there are servers and it’s like the fediverse. Is there a specific server that y’all joined? Or does that matter much since it all connects? I haven’t had a chance to look at available servers yet.

      Yes, the Matrix space is hosted on a particular server, but it all connects so a user from one server is able to participate in a space hosted on another server.

      Just shoot me your Matrix username if you’d like an invite!

        Actually Matrix rooms aren’t hosted on specific servers at all! That’s why room and user ids are :example.com instead of @example.com.

        Matrix federation works differently from Fediverse federation :3
