Did they go through previous year’s applications and her’s just jumped out as someone they needed. It’s highly likely. SI never invited her back even though she was ‘showing up’ at their events and trying to get their attention. Her walk was a one and done and she was either not told the truth as to why she got to walk that one year or she refused to read the writing on the wall and chooses to recount her fairy tale story of how it all happened.
That’s the thing about those types of lies. What would it even matter how or why you get in. If it’s REALLY a dream, then jump for joy you got in and be grateful how it all happened.
