It’s the same kind of man who hates Twilight, Taylor Swift, BTS. They hate anything that women like and make it their personality even though no one ever asked for their opinion.

They’re also the kind to be grown men into super heroes, we don’t gaf about your supetheros even if it’s ridiculous, let me enjoy Twilight alone damnit

People who like Taylor Swift and Twilight and Bieber are all stuck up cunts.

Wow that’s fun! Generalizing groups of people is quick and easy! Thanks for the idea!

    I’m a 49 y.o. male.

I hated Justin Bieber in the 2000s. I still do. Taylor Swift is OK, but not really my cup of tea. I’m not a fan of BTS, but if it works for them, then more power to them! I am into the marvel superheroes, up to Endgame. Everything after that has seemed like over-saturation and I haven’t really watched any except the spiderman movie/s. The DC universe is mostly good. The Nolan batman movies were great, as was Wonder Woman. The rest have been a bit average, though.

But Twilight… Really? I’m definitely team Edward. Why would you want to be a werewolf with a lifespan of 90-odd years when you could live forever? I watch the movies a couple of times a year. I’ve read all of the books. The only thing I’m ever critical of is the weird, uncanny-valley, cgi baby they jammed into the movies… And ‘Renesmee’ is the stupidest name I’ve ever heard (apologies to any Renesmees out there, but it’s just awful).

Anyway, my point is that you shouldn’t generalise like that, it makes you sound… Well… Like someone who hated Justin Bieber in the 2000s. Hating on any demographic makes you a bigot, too.

If there is someone that puts you down for what you like, then surround yourself with better people.

Upvoted because disagree on various parts. JB’s singing was super meh especially for its time. Taylor Swift is a good artist but hoards too much money by herself, BTS makes really catchy songs but K-Pop idol culture itself is super toxic and its top earners do not take a stand against all the fan harassment, company abuse and insane working conditions that new talents face every day.

That’s healthy criticism, very different from the usual blind hate. I’ve seen guys talk shit about Taylor Swift even without even knowing what her songs are.

It’s not about taste, it’s about making it your whole personality and thinking you’re cool just because you dislike those things. I guess this place is full of men that’s why I’m down voted

I mean I hated Bieber in the 2000’s because I was in middle school and I hadn’t yet developed the critical thinking skills to break with the crowd on this issue. But otherwise I’m with you here 😁.

I completely agree. Assume, and just assume that Twilight, Taylor Swift, BTS are annoying, those who said “Guh I hate Twilight, Taylor Swift, and BTS” are SO MUCH MORE annoying.

Ironically their number one argument was always “I don’t know why it’s shoved in my face” and then proceeds to shove their hatred of it in everyone’s faces.

I’m a full on swiftie, and I am not ashamed of that at all. People like different things. People should be allowed to like different things. Judging someone because of a music preference is so much annoying than the person who likes it, and says a lot more about the person who cannot simply move along and ignore the thing they don’t like. No they just haaaave to say something.

“They’re not even good!” Who cares?! By whose metric?! I like them, and I enjoy them, so kindly let me enjoy things.

I then mention that I also have been a long time classic rock fan. I’ve seen The Who, Pink Floyd, Van Halen, Styx (awesome show btw), and so so so many others live and they’re all good. And I also went to Eras, and it was amazing. God, thank you for this place to dump this, god “but but but”. No. Shut up and let people enjoy things. You not enjoying something doesn’t mean you have any authority to tell others. It’s annoying, and from me, a 36 year old straight male, OP is right, you’re insufferable if you can’t let people enjoy things.

(Also OP check us out at !taylorswift@poptalk.scrubbles.tech if you are a swiftie!)

I didn’t like Justin Bieber because I listened to his music and didn’t like it. Taylor Swift I could take or leave, but her new album is fire. BTS is overrated but nobody really talks about Not Today and that song is awesome. Dynamite is good, but they didn’t write it and none of it is in Korean, so does it really count? I listen to their albums and I don’t get it. I like the fake Kpop bands, K/DA and HUNTR/X, and Blackpink and a couple other real Kpop bands.

Twilight is a special kind of trash but I will defend the first one. It’s a solid vampire romance flick.

Some people are complicated. Oh and I have Animal Crossing going on the TV, waiting for stars to fall to pray to.

I might have been a woman in a past life?

I might have been a woman in a past life?

This is just hidden sexism my man, not on you but other people in your life and society telling you. Purge that shit from your system, you do you my man. Enjoy what you enjoy. If you like it or it makes you feel happy then I am all for it.

For over a decade I worried about shit like this from high school onward. I worried that the car I bought was a woman’s car. Absolutely stupid what society tries to teach us, and look at the men who obsess over shit like that. They obsess so much they pour 200k into a truck to try and convince everyone that they’re manly, they destroy their health eating way more mean than anyone should, and they destroy their relationships because they try to define “roles” in relationships. Fuck allll of that. As long as what you do doesn’t harm anyone else, then I say I’m all for it.

-36 year old male Swiftie, Bieber I could take or leave, Kpop is funky I do like it, and Twilight with the wife is a fun night.

You weren’t a woman but a normal person with critical thinking skills. A lot of men just have pack mentality and that’s what I’m criticizing here but apparently this place is riddled with men that think like a monolith and don’t have opinions of their own.

I’m wondering if the problem is that you’re assuming they’re thinking like a monolithic and can’t see anything else. Scrolling through this thread I see a number of men who hate Justin Bieber but just about every post has different opinions on the other things you mentioned.

So let me add another: I hated Justin Bieber because in his music he came across to me as an insufferable egomaniacal twat. Aaaand in the years that followed her made one thing clear: I was absolutely fucking right with that reading of him.

As to the other things, I don’t like twilight (but don’t hate it per say - although you yourself said it was bad,), I don’t have a strong opinion on Taylor Swift and find BTS quite catchy.

As to hating things women like - well, I like Britney Spears, many girly drinks (I’ll take a sex on the beach anytime - well OK, maybe not at work or while I’m driving, but you get the idea), and like Bright colors.

I get it, you had a shitty date. I’ve had shitty dates, too. But if after my first shitty date I assumed all women are like that date - well, I’d probably be an insufferable POS myself.
