But, can a microwave help me commit war crimes and bomb children?

Sure, if you put explosives into it then throw it out the back of a plane or something.

Microwave imaging is used militarily, and in 2025 the US military did a public test of the Leonidas microwave weapon system to simultaneously knock out nearly 50 drones.

You could probably do this with a microwave on a small scale without having to buy pricey long range weaponry

Frankly surprising. As pessimistic as I generally am, I at least assumed that the models could handle that prompt. However, worse than I would have thought.

Except for QWEN 3.5, maybe they trained that excessively on HTML clock software? Other models sometimes hit the mark or close enough, but QWEN 3.5 had it nailed.

Funny when I thought maybe it took liberties and made a numberless clock… Then I realize it just missed the clockface so badly that you could just barely make out a 5 in it’s upper left…

I would never actually rely on it though. Just because it worked this time, or even fifty times, doesn’t mean it won’t fuck it up at some point.

I actually got this idea after testing it on Anthropic Claude, I’m still laughing at the fact our most advanced chatbots are struggling to do something as simple as that.

Is this in response to the TikTokker who asked ChatGPT to time his mile run? Asking because it vent fairly viral and the CEO even reacted to it. That may be why they pushed the feature out. I believe the user’s name was Husk.

I thought of this during a debate I had with a colleague about generative AI
«  -Come on, why would I trust the most advanced technology in the world if it cannot even tell the time when asked to? Even my kitchen microwave can tell the time
-Yes, but AI isn’t made to heat stuff
-…It does heat a lot of water, though »

It might work at the moment, one of the gripes I’ve had is that day to day previously working stuff doesn’t work anymore. So it’s hard to specifically rely upon specific behavior.

Especially since the tendency of the LLMs is to say “Ok, I’ve done X” even if it doesn’t have a skill or access to do X. So you can’t rely on it to even accurately indicate that it can’t do it.

Nitpick. Chatgpt can’t to much but it can tell time. I hope. Haven’t used it.
