Streamers need to figure out that taking two to three years off between serialized seasons is how you lose your viewers.
Pretty sure they just take the time to wait and see if the show is successful before firing up a new season. If it flops, that’s a huge L developing a new season that no one will watch.
Worked fine for decades on broadcast TV. Which pumped out 23 episode seasons every year. You’ll know whether or not it’s a hit after the first few episodes air. They should at least pay the writers to work on the next season while the current season airs.
You’re going to lose viewers either way, so I guess it’s a question of how you want to gamble — by forging ahead, or by sitting on the property and losing momentum.
