      I’d definitely watch that.

Even tho its a long movie, it did feel short and fast after reading the book lol

I was so sad this wasn’t there. It was such a badass scene in the book. It was effectively just STRATT pulling the Ron Swanson “I can do what I want” and winning.

Stratt’s characterisation in the film was very different. She came off as just another member of the hail mary team instead of the badass inhuman utilitarian boss she was in the book. A change for the worse IMO, though I think I’m in the minority there as one of her new scenes is supposedly very popular.

Grace was also quite different for that matter, though I’m more conflicted about that change.

Agreed on the stratt change. They seemingly watered her down a ton. It is what it is though. They also cut out a lot of the prep side if the mission. However they would have to cut something, it was already a 2.5 hour movie 🤣

it was a nice and quiet watch in the theater. nobody said a word for the entire thing and afterwards everyone left silently. that’s how you know it’s good.

(I’ve not seen it, I’ve only read Weir’s book, so I’m not seriously casting any judgement, I’m just amusing myself – but I was a little dismayed by the huge spoilers in the trailers.)

no, it’s impolite to make noise at the cinema. the only time it happens is when people don’t care about the movie.

It sounds like a sad state of things when it’s polite to stifle laughter when humor happens in front of you, but I’m sure there’s a sane reason for it.

The ones near me have been pretty well-kept, but I imagine it varies by site. Either way, I fail to see how laughing at jokes means we don’t care about each other? I usually feel a sense of ease and connection when a theater collectively laughs quietly at a funny moment. A messy theater existing somewhere doesn’t change that moment into a bad one.

it’s just a matter of different atmospheres. people here want to be completely immersed in the experience and someone making noise around them ruins that. even children’s films tend to have completely quiet theatres because everyone is so focused.

Correct. There are English subs, but occasionally you’ll also see Russian. I typically use Usenet these days, and I occasionally search through qBit, but nothing was showing up and I’m not sure why. But, it is available on a popular DLing website.

Your comment reads to me like you thought I was criticizing or questioning you, or something else, which I was not. If that was my intention, I would have replied directly to you.

I was only trying to be clear to the person I commented to that I may or may not have the same info as you, but either way, the info I was sharing was directed to the person I replied to. I’ll reply to your other comment in a sec.

Edit: Your original comment (above the person I replied to) only says

“It’s already in my Plex library.”

So, now I’m confused when you replied to me with

“Notice I said “pretty sure,” I didn’t say there wasn’t anything better available. It was just my guess based on the fact it’s still in theaters.”

I don’t or didn’t see where you said anything other than “It’s already in my Plex library.” Or, maybe you meant to reply to someone else?

Edit2: And just to be clear, I’m not the person down-voting you. This is just a misunderstanding. I was only trying to help the person I replied to.

Talk about obtuse, you were replying to the wrong part of the thread. That’s what caused the confusion. Why didn’t you reply to my comment that caused you so much heartache? Instead, you replied to some other comment I made. There’s a reason why there is a Reply option under each comment.

Did you read what I wrote in the quote you included? I specifically said “when I originally replied,” or are you being deliberately obtuse?

Go touch grass. All I was saying is that I didn’t know what type of rip you had on your system to the person talking about cam rips, and let them know something better is available, and you may actually have that better rip. I didn’t know until later that you had a cam rip.

Why so sensitive? I was even still willing to help you find the better rip. Go grab a box of tissue and whine to someone else.

I unfortunately don’t have any links available. The movie was automatically pulled and downloaded through my Radarr setup, and I’m pretty sure it sourced it from my Usenet provider. If it’s any consolation, I’m pretty sure most of the rips at this point are going to be telesyncs, anyway. Hard to tell with the copy I have, but the colors seem a bit dim, so I’m pretty sure it was captured off of a screen.

There is a better version than a telesync available. Unfortunately, I was not able to find it on usenet (my first option these days), but another popular, well-known site has it for dl. I was not able to find it using the qBit search function.

Saw it in IMAX, felt worth it. Loved the book, loved the movie, super disappointed in the author. Might not of done either of the first two things if I knew he was going on “anti-woke” podcasts bragging how he doesn’t write politics.

Jesse Gender has the best take on it, because there is a bit of nuance since Weir did apologize for some of it, but only for the parts that might affect his ability to write TV or movies. Not for apparently being friends with Critical Drinker, inviting him to premiere, talking up his book and going through anti-woke talking points with him.

yeah the only thing i’ve found is soundbites and others adding “woke” to what he said, and him apologising for those things. i don’t know what the podcast is but if that’s the only thing people seem to be talking about it doesn’t seem like the other stuff can be worse, right?

i’ll watch jessie’s video, i usually like her stuff even if we disagree on a lot of things.
