nostr is a literal digital cesspool. its where all the people who need the ‘free speech’ to be racist, scamming pieces of shit go.

human beings are kinda shit. without self-regulation, human beings are very much shit. so when you throw 100% anonymity anywhere, you get the absolute worst of humanity by default.

nostr is a shithole full of fascists and other assorted bigots

on the mastodon servers i run we always have to block the fediverse nostr bridges that pop up on occasion because it’s always just the worst bullshit imaginable being spewed from there

Yeah, I started reading about it and felt like “yeah ok the protocol design goal is interesting. May solve Mastodon’s issue of losing your “identity” when switching instance. Let’s see how/if they managed to make it work…”

Then I got to a list of testimonials and the first one was by Uncle Bob saying something about “freedom” and fuck me if that guy isn’t a red flag on fucking fire.

      Further reading did not impress.

So yeah looks like it’s more of a dipshit culture war totem than a technology.

May solve Mastodon’s issue of losing your “identity” when switching instance

surely that’s built in feature though? , every instance has different rules so you cant be porting your posts from one instance to the other with impunity, the moderation load would be intolerable ?

You’d have to register and be accepted, same as Mastodon. The difference is that the Mastodon instance you post from “owns” your identity.

turns out that normal people don’t want to be around places unmoderated and unmoderable by design, and instead it’s a magnet for nazis, pedos, nazi pedos and cryptobros, but i repeat myself
