I got this recommended on YouTube, but sadly nowadays when discovering new music I’m always wondering if it’s AI generated or not. Can we be sure this (the art and the music) isn’t AI generated?
I looked him up on Deezer and every song has a disclaimer about AI generated content. Shame because I liked this track when I first heard it.
Doesn’t seem anything like AI to me, both in terms of style (minimalism, frame-by-frame, boiling animation) and in terms of persistent imagery (I think there might be a better term here) even across videos.
I mean, unless there’s some AI trained to somehow output Flash* animations that I’m not aware of. Certainly possible or even easier given it’s actually less data to crunch, but most stuff is focused on realism and maximalism (in the same way AAA+ games have wide worlds filled with thousands of high-data assets that aren’t interactable).
I see parts that are likely rotoscoped, so that might be part of it. Otherwise, I’m not really sure what gives people the impression of AI. I even searched (trying to see if there’s info on how it was made) and I see threads and even a ‘also search for’ asking if it’s AI.
* although I wouldn’t doubt these days if it was made with some video compositing program, or perhaps Blender+grease pencil
EDIT: Some further digging seems to have some link to Trevor Van Meter, an illustrator with 1 known Flash thing (Fly Guy, though that is pixel art). Although they later did NFTs, so if there was some AI involved in the audio I guess I wouldn’t be shocked (I can’t say for the music, but the skit voices do sound a bit flat).
you can look further into the artist’s channel
