Yeah, I’m also a db0-certified “Anti-AI troll”, and I’m proud. For such hardnosed anarchist pirate edgelords, that instance’s admins sure are thin-skinned.

Excerpt from moderation history that shows I've been banned from two genAI communities on lemmy.dbzer0.com. "Reason: Anti-AI Troll"

Sorry, the instance I’m on is very AI-friendly! I don’t disrespect them in their house but I don’t hide my opinions about AI, either. I feel like there’s a time and a place. I’m surprised they haven’t banned me from GenAI comms.

Not really. We like to think of Lemmy as so much different from Reddit, but the same shit happens here. On Reddit, you have one mod (or, Power Trippin’ Bastard as they’re sometimes called here) who runs multiple subreddits, and if you step on their toes, they ban you from all of them. On Lemmy, you get a lot of the same.

You run a comm called “Anti-AI.” People see that and ban you from pro-AI comms. It’s petty and childish and honestly it should feel like “the trash took itself out.” I’m even fine with it because on Lemmy, all votes are public. On Reddit, they were by default but you could hide yours. So if you’re anti-AI and you just downvote AI slop as you see it, they’re saving you some time by banning you from said comm. As you say, it’s a badge of honour.

Don’t get me wrong, petty bans are petty bullshit, but, people gonna people.

Downvoting from the instance we’re on isn’t possible.

We don’t really care to downvote or upvote much anyway. We don’t see the point. We much prefer good faith discussion.

Agreed on the second part. As to the first, and somewhat to the second, I’m learning more about the Fediverse all the time. I also value discussion (especially of the good faith variety), but I understand a lot of people just want to spread news/links/things of interest, not necessarily discuss it.
