I made a blender model and animation of this thing I experienced to show how it looks like and moves, and to use that as a way to find out if someone knows what it is, where or why. I don’t know much more and am wondering what others know based on their encounters. It’s somewhere at some time, seems huge. The discs are flattish and don’t reflect light other than from the edges. I’ve tried posting in a few communities and get mostly aggravated answers, or overtly focusing on how I got this knowledge (almost like I’ve done something forbidden when it’s not an aspect I care about), and one got modded hidden.

Yeah, this particular “orbiting circles” thing is somewhat common in sci-fi media, even the “it lines up and stops” part.

I think that’s likely why you’re getting negative responses. People look at your (neat) animation and go “oh, look generic sci-fi macguffin” but see you acting like you think it’s some sort of hidden or alien knowledge then think you’re a crackpot.

Because there doesn’t seem to be cosmic-scale object that looks like this. Epistemological aspect of this information is important, because it will inform us if it’s just mind playing tricks or a real phenomenon.

How did you acquire this knowledge?

Edit: Have you consulted with a doctor about this? Knowledge doesn’t just appear in your head. People usually read, watch or hear something and form new knowledge based on the experience.

Lol artists conduit stuff like this all the time and don’t need to see doctors about it. One could make a case that it’s like dreams connect different memories in your subconscious to process them to build a new connection. Or how problems get solved at work, gather enough context and one day you’re doing something else and it all clicks. It’s a normal thing, you just probably don’t recognize it as well.

The important distinction is when artists “conduit” stuff like this, they can easily discern fact from fiction; reality from fantasy. When they imagine a spaceship or an alien they know that those things aren’t real.

A doctor would help you asses if you have trouble, differentiating thoughts that are based on reality and those that aren’t. Human minds are little shits that lie, and some people have trouble seeing past those lies. Doctors have devised methods to help those people.

Well all through humanity’s history there’s knowledge that “imagination” molds “reality” so the difference is do you make a fantasy story of a truth you received from creativity etc etc

When artists imagine new things, they don’t generally ask people what those things are as if they must be a thing that really exists in the real world.

The animation you created does resemble something I’ve seen in, I think, a sci fi movie (I don’t recall which). I’ve also seen, in real life, small desktop models resembling this (again I can’t point you something specific, but I’m picturing it in brass). It reminds be somewhat of an astrolab, like https://p.turbosquid.com/ts-thumb/lT/AyGkQ1/TldU6igf/screenshot007/png/1546795156/1920x1080/fit_q87/55f4c2758f661655600a70a3859a1a46059d73cd/screenshot007.jpg but I’m pretty sure I’ve seen something that more closely resembles your animation.

Also, I believe the jump ships in Foundation have these for their jump cores or whatever.

There’s also at least one of these in the Elder Scrolls video games.

Its a common set of rings designed artistically to represent a complex, and practically magical object. Likely inspired by things like an orrery and other objects designed to track the orbits of the planets of our solar system.

Asking is probably not usual. Some scientists do their thesises through seeing the result first. It’s different to imagine something internally than to “go to”/“get” something else, the latter being something that someone else knows as well rather than self-born. Although I guess one could expand to the thought that everything internal ultimately is everything external yada yada

I wouldn’t say it’s “conduiting” or whatever. I visualise stuff and then take a whole pile of steps to turn that into something. Sometimes it’s like an epiphany but I’m not of the belief that it’s something just being inserted into my mind.

This is exactly like the spinning mechanism at the end of 13 Ghosts. I’ve always thought it was pretty. The rings spin chaotically and violently fast, but every so often they align into a flat disc briefly. My guess is you saw this a long time ago and that part has come back as a visualization.

This is actually forbidden knowledge. You shouldn’t have seen it, not sure why you have. It’s a self reinforcing recursive spiral fractal graph, the key to free energy from water. If you put it in a car, it can drive 1000 miles on just 1 gallon of water. Big tech and the capitalists doesn’t want you to know, so they probably did something to delete it from your memory. I’m surprised this post stayed up so long, maybe MOSAD has no eyes on Lemmy yet?

That has been mentioned a couple of times in the other communities and I see the analogy. I can’t tell if the size is of a space station or a moon or a planet. What would it be gyroscoping

What you have animated in a gimbal. Gyroscopes are often mounted on gimbals to demonstrate how they resist changes to their axis of rotation. This is why many people associate gimbals with gyroscopes. I guess many people don’t know the term gimbal, or have forgotten it.

Anyway, as I said in a top-level comment, you should look up “gimbal lock” which is what happens when all the rings of the gimbal end up in the same plane.

Yes that is actually similar. What would more discs than 3 spatial axii mean in this case? The blender object has something like 7 but I’m not sure if it’s the correct number. More than x, y and z axii definitely tho.

What could lock into the middle is another question. The sense of scale of it feels huge, like anything between a space station and a planet

The same thing can happen with 4, 7, or 100 rings. If they are allowed to “flatten out” to a single plane, you get gimbal lock, no matter how many rings there are. However, more rings don’t actually give more degrees of freedom. 4 rings are enough to provide all degrees of freedom plus guarantee that you never get gimbal lock, but only if you ensure that the innermost and outermost rings are perpendicular to each other at all times.

As for the “meaning” behind it, sense of scale, or whatever you might be feeling, I have nothing to say. Gimbals can be built in all sizes.

Oh that I didn’t get from skimming Wikipedia. Because of a loss of freedom/control or am mistaking the concept?

I didn’t understand the timing of why these discs align so it’s not accurate in the animation but it seemed cyclical/mechanical/mathematic, like a pulse towards various different directions

Gimbals might be free-spinning or driven by motors, it depends on what they’re used for, what their purpose is. Either way though, they usually don’t move all that much, it’s just shown in animation for demonstration purposes. (And in sci-fi because it’s cool.)

For example, there are camera gimbals which are designed to keep a mounted camera steady while the gimbal is held by a shaky human. In that case the gimbal only rotates as a counter-reaction to the rotation of the handheld part. If you have a steady hand, the gimbal would hardly move at all.

I should note that camera gimbals don’t look like those fancy rings, but mechanically they do the same thing.

I can’t tell you any more than that (frankly that’s all I know), but since you seen interested you should take your time to read up on it and watch YouTube videos about it.

Hi. I’ll be your “that guy” today. It’s “axes” pronounced “ax-eez”, not “axii”.

        explanation

“Axis” is from Greek, and the general rule is that singular “-is” becomes “-ēs” in the plural, which happens to apply here. We don’t usually write the overline when it’s adopted into English, so “axes”, but with a Greek-derived pronunciation.

The rule you’re thinking of is that Latin “-ius” usually becomes “-ii”, but Latin or not, there’s no “u”, so we should avoid using that rule here.

Someone else also commented that. Or a representation of rings that orbit around something.

But the key difference here is that the center is distinctively empty, it’s somehow important. The rotating shapes are flat discs probably with mass, lot rings. Their planes are non-reflecting void and the edges reflect as “rings” from the light source
