I, for one, am approximately 3 years old.

The bogeyman will eat the parents first, and then hopefully won’t be hungry anymore, at least for today.
This makes me think of when my son comes into our room and asked for Cozy with blanket in hand and binkie in his mouth.
Interesting ambiguity here. The transparent parents are clearly ghosts, but is the kid also a ghost? I think so, since the most safe you can be is if you already faced death and you’re still smiling.
