Zippy the Pinhead is an alt / underground comic that’s been running since the 70’s.

One thing that’s a little different here is that (as I understand it), Bil Keane actually cooperated with Griffith in letting him finish this strip. Keane evidently liked to ‘let his pants down,’ make some wild (unofficial) FC comics, and collaborate with his artist friends. That’s fooled me a couple times now when it comes to Family Circus comics.
