Set up a booth at an anime con and both will print money.

I think my wife sells for the price of the yarn. We see other crocheters charging 3-5x as much. We worry we’re being hostile in undercutting them, but my wife doesn’t do it for a business. She loves crocheting while watching documentaries and just wants to recoup the cost of the yarn, and vendor stall fees (typically $20-50 depending on venue; cons would be a lot more expensive). Some people factor in their time. We saw one crocheter with price tags that tell you how long they spent on each one. So you know you’re not just paying for yarn, you’re paying for a craftperson’s time. And a lot of people don’t get how much time it actually is.

Not looking for advice on pricing, but I wouldn’t discourage it if you have thoughts — my wife’s been doing this about a year and is in crochet groups on social media (just not Lemmy) and has been back and forth on the issue. (As for me, I’m just the stage hand, I put up the tent and the table and carry the boxes.)
