one of my coworkers is very happy that they can basically let llms do their entire job faster than they could do it themselves and all they have to do is wait and kinda qa the result. they don’t see how it will most likely lead to their wage dropping or them getting fired, cause why pay someone the wage of a specialist, if anyone with the ability to read and write and use a computer could do it?

maybe on a societal level it is a positive that these jobs can be automated and that humanity now has capacity for even more things, but for us as individuals, it means losing jobs we enjoyed and studied years for, might even have gone into debt for, just to now have to find new jobs, without any benefits…

Ha ha, so true. I used to amuse myself by commenting on people’s LinkedIn posts about how much of their job was done by AI now with, “Well, then what do they need you for?” never got what I considered a thoughtful response. Just a lot of name-calling.
