- Russia’s war effort is under growing pressure, with mounting military losses, relentless Ukrainian drone strikes on refineries, and attacks damaging nearly 43% of Russia’s refining capacity
- The U.S. and EU are preparing tougher sanctions, targeting Russia’s oil exports, shadow fleet, and major buyers such as China and India, with tariffs and stricter enforcement aimed at squeezing Moscow’s energy revenues.
- Economic strains are intensifying, as Russia faces stagnating growth, shrinking sovereign reserves, a worsening fuel crisis, and the prospect of broader conscription after September elections.

Any insights into why Russians are not giving a shit about their kids dying in Ukraine?
I genuinely think that Stalin’s purges back in the day led to a genetic shift towards compliance, as most that stuck their head out got shot.
Even now, if you look at a population graph of Russia, you see waves of lower population ages due to the soldiers that died in WWII not going on to start families. Why not a similar effect from the purges?
Edit: also, previous conscription waves targeted ethnic minorities and poor folks. As with everywhere else, nobody gives a fuck about poor people.
I wouldn’t say it started with Stalin. The czars did the same.
Yeah, but the czars of Europe (I guess they call them kings, both words come from Caesar) did the same.
Narcissism. Look at what russians are whining about lately, how their business is affected by the wild berries attacks, how they have to queue for days for fuel, but never about innocent Ukrainians dying or even their own people, who are usually from the extremities of russia and don’t even register as real people to them.
They have the same empathy towards human lives that aren’t their own as Nazis did about untermensch.
The 90s were apparently a pretty horrible time to grow up in Russia, and although they might not like Putin they liked the chaos of the 90s even more and fear the chaos that would arise if Putin disappears would be similar to the 90s and prefers the shitty life under Putin or something
I feel like I have been reading this headline for a decade.
“And then it got worse” is a meme about Russia for a reason, as it is often true.
Why can’t they run out faster ?
They will get a bunch of new soldiers, throw them into the meat-grinder, maybe gain a few sqkm and then the battle front will freeze again. I just hope they fail before winter. Ukraine had a hard winter and they shouldn’t be forced to have another.
Yes well, the USA is too. And, so is Ukraine. Probably Iran too. So, the question really is, who’s going to blink and completely run out first?
The US and Russia. It’s very very hard to invade a country, it’s less hard to defend yourself.
Can someone explain why ukraine attaked iran.
An 2-hours old account engaging in whataboutism with a misleadingly framed question. What is this?
What’s the charge?
Bombing a delicious Iranian target? This is Democrrrracy manifest.
…get your hand off my penis
No mater how serious a subject or moment is, I will never not laugh when the words “Get your hands off my penis” are uttered.
Fuck, that cracked me up
Can someone explain why Ukraine Isn’t attacking Iran more?
We can only produce so many drones
Because iran isn’t going to lose and expanding the war will only hurt ukraine and help russia
iran can’t do shit, at worst they can fire a few missiles with questionable efficiency. What are they going to do, start supplying r*ssia?
That’s what the trump cultists used to say about Iran. Do you think Ukrainians ports and other economical targets are more protected than American bases ?
Actually, yes they are due to them being far more ready, second distance matters a lot, third iran supports r*ssia with weapons and resources.
All facts shows that the war on iran is harming ukraine and helping russia. Use your goddamn mind. Thankfully after talks between iran and ukraine both side understood that escalation is bad.
I understand that they are an enemy, everything else is pretty words, iran backed down when their ships that supplied r*ssia were hit. Good for them.
I think Iran has its hands pretty full fighting the USA and Israel right now. Iran is doing ok at the moment but can see Russia getting its arse whooped by the Ukrainians and cleverly decided they want none of that.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whose country has been locked in a war that Russia launched in February 2022, defended the operation, stating that Kyiv had successfully targeted vessels involved in military cargo shipments linked to Iran, alongside a Russian warship.
There you go, and right in the article you linked too !
Now I don’t know if any of this is true, but it appears to be the stated reason.
