The 64-year-old has made numerous MasterChef appearances over the years, serving as a principal judge and co-host on multiple series of Australia’s MasterChef: The Professionals and popping up on the South Africa and New Zealand versions of the show.
In 2024, he appeared as a guest judge in the grand final of the BBC’s MasterChef. But White’s latest comments suggest he perhaps won’t be rushing back to the studios.
Describing MasterChef as “a reality show”, he told the Daily Mirror: “When it comes to the tasting the food is three, four hours old. It’s cold food.
“It is a TV show, don’t take it seriously. It is not real. It is fantasy. If it makes you want to cook then that is all that matters. It’s food porn."
Read this as “MasterChief” and I was so confused.
Master Chief isn’t real he can’t hurt you
Masterchief is badass enough to hurt you even without being real
Ha, I did too. I’m thinking “yeah, no shit he isn’t real.”
Same. “Who thought MasterChief is a real person?” was my first thought
John Halo isn’t real?! Spoilers!
I was confused when Halo CE came out and people kept going on about Master Chef on gaming forums.
That’s actually kinda sad. :( one thing for it to be dramatized another for it to be a fabrication.
Yeah, at one point I knew somebody who was a contestant in it and he told me that for example the judges “tasted” the food all at the end when it was already cold, plus the “winner” was already selected by then.
The whole thing was bollocks.
That and my contact with the Theater world in Britain definitely shifted me to looking at showbiz and public figures in general as “totally fake until proven otherwise”.
I have only watched one cooking show recently and its Next Level Chef. And without my partner, I don’t think I would have been introduced at all.
I have never watched Master Chef so I really can’t comment on that but there is definitely editing, production and cold food on Next Level Chef. The judges decide based on dishes and can take hours to deliberate (these decisions make or break peoples lives).
What is still real is the dishes resulted, the cooking techniques, ingredients used, etc. I’m not a natural cook and ive found entertainment and new knowledge from it. Also per my partner, Top Chef is made up of very talented and real cooks that have been James Beard Award winners and such
Why would they call it reality TV if it’s not real?!
scripted reality
I don’t understand. What’s preventing them from serving the food fresh and getting a proper evaluation?
