Are socks safe? Find out with Bert on the Six O Clock Catly News!
This post is for casual conversation if you don’t feel like making a post office your own.
I’m wondering why that pole needs a 1-foot radius of brick around the base. Also wondering if you could wrap it in carpet and thereby make a cat stair to the ceiling.
Not much going on today. Calling a work place to see if their manager’s back to give me an interview of if his assistant who interviewed already was just hoping I go away.
That’s our Dwarven stripper pole. You can’t mess with the aesthetics of the stage.
Do you foster cats or something? You have so many. (Going for a curious tone here, not critical. Apologies in advance if this doesn’t come across over text.)
Godzilla stuffy progress continues! I haven’t taken a picture, but all pieces are cut and I’ve sewn the back and front together. I really like how the back spikes turned out. I found a button down at a thrift store in the perfect shade of blue. The claws are a bit iffier. I redid them with some jersey scraps instead of the body fabric (a thrifted fleece blanket), which turned out to be so much easier to sew. So the arms are also done and ready to be attached once I finish the body.
No, we are just crazy cat people. We have seven cats all indoors. Then we “have” Mallow and Paul outside. Mallow is a stray and Paul is feral, but we make sure they always have food and water.
I was on a motorcycle roadtrip for a couple days and now the left side of my neck is really sore. I should do some maintenance on the bike but really don’t feel like it. Coming back to city is somehow depressing and I just want to go the summer cabin and stay there forever.
I’d love to own a post office. Free stamps! And I’d love to take one of those old LLVs for a spin.
My great-aunt was postmaster for a tiny town and I got to visit her at work a few times as a kid. It was really, really cool. Lots of purpose-built wooden cabinets and rubber stamps. My mom got the better part of the deal: when she was a kid, great-aunt would babysit her and set up a little mini-office for her to mail and cancel envelopes. I’m a little jealous.
I turned on my cat brain for this post and I’ve got to say: dude, you have some seriously dangerous-looking socks!
Their my wife’s.
My opinion is all socks are dangerous until they have been thoroughly proven inanimate through an elaborate process of tossing about and studying the concomitant motion to determine whether that motion is in fact stochaistic or reveals a hidden will, a mysterious intent, a dark autonomy.
You can not be too careful with socks.
In other news:
I’m doing a new thing: when someone “corrects” me on Lemmy with information I already know or never disagreed with, I simply reply “Yes.”
Examples:
Me: “ICE can track you with telemetry data provided by cellular providers.”
Correction: “Tracking is different than scanning!”
Me: “Yes.”Me: “I like what this other guy said about that: blah blah blah. – Some other guy”
Correction: “That’s a different guy.”
Me: “Yes.”Person A: “Thing is X.”
Me: “It is also Y.”
Correction: “But thing is X.”
Me: "Yes.¨Etc, etc., etc., daily
Why bother responding? I do the same but I just think “yes.” in my head and don’t write a reply.
Because people are stupid and they’ll accept the faulty premise the reply is based on uncritically, especially if it’s a hivemind hotspot. In my second example, someone quoted an Arab-American politician. I quoted another Arab-American politician on the same topic. The person correcting me assumed I can’t tell Arab-Americans apart and got them confused. By not replying, I’m leaving open that possibility in the minds of readers.
That makes sense!
Yes. :-)
That is a very red carpet.
My cat keeps waking me up at like 6 and cant get back to sleep lmao. Had a solid nap today tho
When my cat gets bored in the middle of the night, he walks around the house yelling. If I get up, pick him up and cuddle him, and put him on the bed next to me and pat him, he often purrs himself to sleep. Would that work for yours?
I’ve been back from vacation for 2 days and I’m still completely exhausted. I didn’t even realize how much that took out of me until I got back.
It’s good to take holiday after vacation to recuperate.
I’ve been trying to replicate a BBQ rub I had in Hawaii for the past few months; it was black, a little powdery/crunchy, and didn’t step all over the flavor of the meat. I figured coffee was involved in some way and it definitely wasn’t the usual paprika + brown sugar + cumin thing I get at the store. So I’ve been googling around, finding common ingredients between rubs, and messing around with portions.
As of yesterday, I think I have it most of the way there. Brisket takes forever, so I just smoked a tri-tip. Going to try a few tweaks, but I’m really happy with the result. It comes out of the BBQ looking like a lump of volcanic rock and doesn’t taste like you’re freebasing paprika and cayenne.
