Six major European LGBTI organisations called on Portugal’s Parliament to reject three bills that would dismantle the country’s 2018 self-determination law, reintroduce medical gatekeeping for trans people, ban gender-affirming care for minors, and erase protections for intersex children. The joint statement, signed by ILGA-Europe, TGEU, IGLYO, OII Europe, EL*C, and Bi+ Equal, warned that Portugal would drop at least four places on the European Rainbow Map if the bills passed.
