    Subscription based services are okay. You pay for water, electricity, maybe a gym membership…

    What’s not okay is that they paint it as “exciting news!”

          There’s a difference between paying for usage and paying for access.

          Although with all the fees added, most of what you pay isn’t even usage anymore…

          California, I have rainwater collection that amounts to 3200 gallons, and solar panels. Power company pays my water bill.

          I have a filter to use the water for drinking or cooking but currently just use it to water plants

            Cool. But you’re not OP, though. I bet California has utility companies that charge monthly.
