I’m starting to wonder how many of us have long term issues, or that issues that might get worse because of prior covid infections. I’m not sure if we have ever fully recovered our sense of smell and taste.
My wife became sensitive/allergic to both dairy and soy since being infected last winter, even fully vaccinated at the time, though likely during the least effective period of our vaccines.
I feel different since those times. Not quite sure how.
My father in law, who is a retired state police officer, lost so many friends to COVID. I think at one point he had five straight weekends of funerals.

i think it should be hard for cops to track people… it should be possible to defy the gove.g. if drumpf becomes dictator, it’ll be good to have a way to escape…
Police are only obliged to protect private property. Especially large collections of private property. Not people.

true. but quite frankly, if someone can’t at their very core agree to the ‘golden rule’, what other option is there? a functioning society is better off being divided against people like that.

Your pea-shooters won’t do much against government attack against you. A drone could kill you, targeting your phone usage and you would never know it.

Locally for me it has been getting involved in the local community: maker space (we made masks during COVID), bicycle group, and a very radical church with a community pantry. But it sounds like those things might not be available where you are, so it might instead be getting involved in a foraging group or other local activities that make sense. Sharing local knowledge outside the Internet is a good habit in case if shit goes south.

The only thing a gun will do for you during a swat raid is get you killed faster. Some guy with a pistol doesn’t stand a chance against a team of trained gunmen. They’ll see the weapon, kill you immediately, and use the fact that you were armed as justification that you were guilty.
