this but unironically. tho most backdoors won’t be used unless you are specificly targeted by a 3-letter agency or other nationstate actors

My last organisation spent oodles of cash on network infrastructure security; yet any stranger could walk up to a terminal without a single physical security check.

As far as advertisers are concerned the case may as well be called the cookie jar.

Fortunately, the software has zero tracking.

Can you still be tracked if you took out the network card? You’d be completely offline without it tho

The internet knows where it is and where it isn’t, by subtracting where it is from where it isn’t, it can narrow down your possible locations.

By playing loud sounds from stealth chemtrail crop dusters the speakers can finalise the triangulation.

Lol I know this is a joke, but I remember reading (on reddit many years ago) about a project someone did where they made the computers in the office broadcast and listen for certain information via infrasound. Something about joining the network or staying on the network or something.

Something about using a similar encoding scheme as that used in GPS signals because it was so low power, but could be picked up in different rooms across the building.

God I wish I could remember the particulars.

A different, but similar, story about tracking individuals’ physical location by serving focused mobile ads:
