Were there any cheap knock offs of TOS attempted back in the day? I feel like there must have been but I’m sure if there had been I would have heard of them by now.
Closest I can come up with is the space satire Quark. It was created by Buck Henry, who co-wrote Get Smart. The biggest problem with doing a Trek rip-off was that back in the day, any special effects were incredibly expensive.
