Plus, as a retired Justice, he could keep raking in the bucks from speaking and book tours.

The problem is he likes the status of power and influence more, he just wants to also be rich. But honestly, this is actually a good deal for him if he were thinking about retiring.
And the guy is 75. His maternal grandfather lived to be 76. John probably wouldn’t be on the hook for very long.

Why would he take a cut in pay? He’s getting way more in kickbacks and gifts.
I think it has its own merits helping the common folk to understand that even $1 million a year for literally nothing is still not a sweet deal as what Clarence Thomas has now despite his entire tenure of bellyaching about his responsibilities.
Sadly, that POS wouldn’t give up the power for even 10X that amount.
