specific male dominated contexts. Like during playing video games & pen and paper gaming
these arent actually male dominated contexts, women were just pushed out of spaces by men because misogyny. data has actually shown that more women play video games than men do
really saying any activity is a “male activity” is rooted in misogyny. the star trek fandom was mostly women when it started until men decided that girls werent allowed to like scifi :p
if you think that the systemic oppression of women as people for the benefit of men is in any way shape or form comparable to “this girl was mean to me this one time”, you are a lost cause.
the idea of “misandry” has always been weaponized against women in a misogynistic way by denying them even the ability to express anger at their oppression. women who “hate men” would not hate men if men did not systemically oppress them in every aspect of life. you can say “misandry is real its just not systemic” if you want, but its like saying “all lives matter” has a meaning outside of its use as a racist dogwhistle. not a very serious take. additionally, you cant say that while also comparing it to misogyny, which is systemic.
gender essentialism and bioessentialism are bad, we all agree on this! we dont have to silence women talking about actual issues and experiences in order to do so.
if you are a man and you feel the need to say how misandry totally is a real problem, you have to remember first that you are benefiting from patriarchy right now whether you like it or not
like i said to begin with, the line of reasoning that misandry exists is the same line of reasoning that is used to say reverse racism exists. and last i checked we all know that isnt the case.
this is,,,, this is just a “misogyny isnt systemic” argument
broad generalizations such as “men have systemic power over women” and “men get paid more than women”
next will you say black people can be racist towards white people?
im really just not gonna waste time engaging with bad faith strawman arguments that start with “the dictionary defines this word as”
i hope that life treats you well and that your beliefs take you to great places
misandry doesnt exist for the same reason reverse racism doesnt exist. there is no system of oppression against men, there is no system of oppression against white people. and all misogyny/racism is inherently systemic.
you are confusing a personal prejudice caused by systemic mistreatment with systemic mistreatment. it is an important distinction to make.
men hating women is misogyny because men have societal power over women. women hating men due to discrimination theyve faced is just them hating their oppressors. when men receive lower salaries than women, have lower rights than women, have their bodies policed like women, are treated like objects and property like women, and are raped and murdered like women, then we can say that misandry is a real thing.
not everything is for you, not everything is about you. you can acknowledge that things and behaviors are bad without pretending they are systems of oppression. if you would prefer to quote a dictionary than actually educate yourself then thats fine, but it doesnt make it any more real.
“you being more offended by the mere implication that some of your peers can be bad than by the harm that they actually cause makes you part of the problem”
at first we read it as “cop” not “god”
not all that far off lol
capitalism :3

1·4 months agopersonal prejudice isnt misandry, as i already explained, and all misogyny (and “misandry”/lack thereof) is inherently systemic
if you want to say “misandry is real because i disliked men because of <internalized transphobia> and <gender dysphoria> and <toxic masculinity (misogyny)>” and push back because you looked the word up in the dictionary, then be my guest. ive said everything that is worth saying on this topic, and frankly have more important things to do than pointlessly argue on the internet.
“not all men”, defender of the defended, voice of the voiceful, protector of the protected, “actually cracker is a slur!!” and so on. i hope the boot is worth it, do better.

2·4 months agotoxic masculinity is misogyny
men not being able to act a certain way because its associated with womans qualities and thus forcing them to not express emotions and be violent and controlling or otherwise theyre seen as weak for being “like a woman” is misogyny
men confessing their troubles is seen as effeminate because these are “woman” qualities, youre not “weak” and “emotional” like a woman. this is also misogyny
being shamed and repressed for having qualities that are perceived as feminine is misogyny. youre not being shamed for being a man youre being shamed for acting like a woman
the supposed existence of “reverse racism” ignores the inherent power/privilege dynamic that permeates our society, and acts like racism is on an even playing field, when its not. if a black person calls you a cracker, thats not being racist, its a reaction to the racism they have faced from white people throughout their entire lives, and their parents lives, and their parents lives, etc.
come back when they oppress your way of life, when they fire you from a job because the color of your skin. when they deny you healthcare, or genocide you because the color of your skin. when they throw you in jail with laws they created, and force you to do slave labour for years
you are confusing personal prejudice caused by systemic oppression with systemic oppression. personal prejudice is inherently not racism because there is no system of oppression against white people, and all racism is systemic.

reverse racism isnt real, its a silencing tactic
there is no structural, societal misandry ever-present, oppressing men
there is no structural, societal racism ever-present, oppressing white people
racism, like misogyny, is a structural and systemic hate leveraged against people, not a personal one
when men receive lower salaries than women, have lower rights than women, have their bodies policed like women, are treated like objects and property like women then we can say it is real

“dude” “man” “guy” etc arent gender neutral, its surprising to me that this is still something regularly asked in places (this isnt to say it is bad that you asked, more just an observation). just because something is the norm doesnt mean that it is correct or good. you arent going to walk up to some guy (and when i say this, you most likely think “man”) and say “hey gal whats up” so why is it then okay to walk up to a gal and be like “hey dude”. this “male as default” way of thinking is rooted in misogyny, and women are defined in the ways theyre “not men”, they are “other”. gender neutral = masculine because society views men and masculinity as the superior gender and gender expression. by using these terms as “gender neutral” terms you are reenforcing this way of thinking
