I too enjoy the crunchy texture of shampoo. Never thought of grating it though, I definitely should try that. Variety is the spice of life after all and the spice must flow.

Ah, the good old Negerküsse (German) or Negerzoenen (Dutch), translated: Negro Kisses. In the Netherlands they’ve been renamed to Kisses 2 decades ago, for obvious reasons.
Edit: ffs, I hate not being able to use the N-word for a factual statement.

Linux@lemmy.world•Ok, how do we actually fix the linux bluetooth issues?English
5·6 days agoPersonally I solved it by plugging in a wired headphone in my laptop. Fuck Bluetooth, it’s never worked in a stable fashion for me these past 25 years or so, no matter what devices or OS I use. 3.5mm jack and USB remain the superior choices.

IdiotsInCars@lemmy.world•A lorry driver and a railroad crossing this morning in the village of Meteren in the NetherlandsEnglish
3·8 days agoThe (safe for work) camera recording of the collision was released as a warning to the general public: https://nos.nl/l/2588609.
People, just drive through the barrier should you ever get caught like that, it’s made to break in case of emergency and can easily be replaced. Instead, now 2000 meters of track and the entire installation at this crossing needs to be replaced. So no trains will run there for at least a week.

Casual Conversation@piefed.social•Got my tenth COVID vaccine and my flu shot today.
3·17 days agoI’m scheduled for Friday. Sucks that I’m allergic to Comirnaty (Pfizer), so I’ll probably have to spend a while at the clinic afterwards. Unfortunately that’s the only vaccine that’s available here. But an hour of discomfort still beats full-blown COVID, I’ve catched it once and have never been sicker in my life despite having had all my shots. I hate to think how that would have ended without the jab.
Your rat has strong “come forward and be judged, peasant” vibes. 😅
Some dude with the opinion that “it’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment to protect our other God-given rights”. So you don’t need to feel sorry for him, his death was an acceptable cost after all.

4·1 month agopublic transport is just 10x as comfortable as any car could be
Yes, nothing beats walking to a bus stop and waiting there in the cold, rain or burning sun, hoping the bus shows up in time or at all. Then stressing, because it being 15 minutes late probably means your connecting train will be gone. Oh yes, there it goes. Half an hour wait with no place to sit. And then repeat this two more times for more connecting trains and buses.
And I haven’t even talked about not being able to sit during train rides, or having to sit on back wrecking seats. Unfortunately I have back issues and after having enjoyed the ‘comfort’ of our public transport I often end up just not being able to stand or sit anymore at the end of the day because my back hurts so bad.
That is my average commute, and as a bonus there ultimately isn’t a difference in price here between taking the car or public transport. To top it off my average travel time is 60 minutes by car, 1.5 - 2 hours by public transport, often depending whether or not the first bus shows up in time.
It would be able to overlook a lot of this if it was feasible to do some work in the train, but with all the fragmentation on my route I never really get anything done.
I really would like to use public transport, as it is more sustainable than my gas guzzler, but each time I try it the experience just sucks so bad.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Why are police in the USA so heavily tattooed?
5·1 month agoWell, hello fellow rebel!
The first thing I always do is turn 120Hz off. The difference just isn’t meaningful enough to justify the extra battery drain. On a PC monitor sure, but on a phone I really don’t care if my feed scrolls a bit smoother.

But be honest people, who here doesn’t need at least a bottle of that stuff to be able to shed a tear for Ol’ Charlie? Personally I think I’d need a good dose of pepperspray, needing just a drop of artificial tears is pretty tame by comparison.
