I hit a snag when we had to replace the vehicle unexpectedly. The new one has no good mounting options besides magnetic attachment so I’m still looking.

Dang, that’s a nice throwback.

TrueCrypt had/has that feature for full-drive encryption. But I don’t think anyone serious uses them anymore due to the current code maintainers having some questionable allegiances.

Not sure if you count nonprofits, but the Braille Institute has Atkinson Hyperlegible

Ah, a fellow engineer!

Depending on your preferences, !biodiversity@mander.xyz and !biology@mander.xyz are both pretty great.

I use Fennec for Android and that page has no ads that I saw. Phys.org also has a high factual and reliability rating on some independent rating sites.

I’ve had tidal for the past few years and I’ll never leave by choice. They even lowered their subscription price last year.

Perfect use of scientific vocabulary.

I think they’re referring to this species. Although the cloning aspect adds yet another layer of wtf on top.

I almost just updated and moved on without reading the article. Glad i didn’t, because this was fascinating and very well written.

In a documentary with writers who worked with Roddenberry they said it was his design choice for all ships. Apparently warp nacelles are supposed to have 40% empty space between them for the warp field to generate. In Voyager they rotated up to exit the plane of the ship.

Add to that the capability of Meshtastic to do basic encryption and a device entry fee of <$15. Limited scope doesnt matter as much if it’s widespread enough.

I don’t thing anything is close to what iNaturalist used to be. I use it every year when teaching Biology and Environmental Science. Now I’m looking for something else as well.

I read through that entire thing, saw Charles, and just skipped right over it. That’s perfect though.

You could also get one of the SSD drives that look like flash storage. I got a “usb stick” with 512GB SSD for about $60 last year.
All of my students get pictures like the second one because we don’t look at the leaf itself. We use nail polish to make an impression and look at that. It comes out as a monochrome relief.

Very nice! The microscopes I use to teach biology are 40x objective (10x eyepiece). They’re not the best, but true workhorses when it comes to durability.
Came here to say this but you covered it pretty well! So I’ll just leave this image of steel being “cut” under an electron microscope. You can see the deformation and change in structure.
