I like to preheat water for my electric stove in my electric kettle. So what if the microwave is also running? Ahh, the power of 230V.

I’ve seen them packed in 4s as well. 10 packs are common, and I’ve seen cartons of 15 as well. Dunno who determines that. I swear we had cartons of 12 too but I haven’t seen any in a long while. Am I going crazy?
I keep them in the carton in the fridge anyway and my egg shelf has butter and cheese, so problem solved :p

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's your favorite childhood cartoon that everyone else seems to have forgotten about?
3·2 months agoAn obscure one (I think) that I always enjoyed when it was on was Oggy and the Cockroaches. For a few years there I had forgotten the title and had a hell of a time finding it again.

15·4 months agoDid you say “bets”? Wait nevermind, if you know the outcome it’s not a bet.
I used to have a microwave that you could stop at 0 if you hit the right time. Before the finish beeps but still at 0. It was like a frame perfect press though, really hard to get.
Also at my work there’s someone who likes to leave it at 0:01. When I come in in the morning and it displays that I don’t know the time. Gr. Use the little red button kthx

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Do you feel your job is important and are you proud to do it?
1·4 months agoI don’t think my job is particularly inportant, but I’m definitely proud to do it. I work in repair at a small model train electronics producer. I fix the electronics for customers and also do a bit of customer support.
Unlike a lot of companies where you just get crappy outsourced call center support and if your thing’s broken you just get a new one (with all your settings reset of course), my company actually fixes people’s stuff. I love that I get to do that, and individually help people. It’s also stimulating because customers manage the weirdest things sometimes, and I get to figure out what, why, and how.
I work in electronics repair, but occasionally I also have to deal with related calls (and emails). As much as I hate phone calls I’m glad I can offer the customers of the small firm I work at an actual person to speak to and actually solve their problems as opposed to this kind of slop machinery or even outsourced callcenters.
If only you could switch the Halo 3 Battle Rifle to semi-automatic…
They make excellent electronics parts bins, too.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Earbud question: Does anyone actually like to silicone tipped earbuds over the solid plastic ones?
2·5 months agoThank you for asking this, you just reminded me of an adjacent question I have.
As for silicone ones vs. plastic: I can never get the plastic ones to stay in, and they also have just about 0 bass since they don’t seal, so in that sense I prefer silicone ones.
However I don’t get how people can do any movement with them in and not get annoyed by the very loud rumbling noise they make since they seal up the ears. Walking, and even touching the wires… any slight movement of the earbuds against the ear is very loud.
My ideal solution are not fully sealing silicone buds so they stay in but don’t do that very loud rumbling. Unfortunately that’s nigh impossible to get.
Anyone else have trouble with that?

You can load sounds of different model trains into the decoders that go in them to make them drive and light up and make sound. The sounds follow what a real locomotive does, too, like the chuffs, turbocharger, or what have you.
