I really hate that you’re dealing with this. Having to fight to get doctors to listen to you is fucking exhausting. Having to prioritize a list of problems that all suck because you only have the energy to deal with one or maybe two is fucking exhausting. It just doesn’t stop. 🤬

Games@lemmy.world•Why gaming is so important to players with chronic painEnglish
1·2 years agoI never thought about it like that, but that explains why I played through Borderlands 2 over and over again while doing chemo. Everything hurt but I could still mow down some baddies.

1·2 years agoI’ve been on Cymbalta for years with no problems. If I had an odd reaction during the first month or after six months or so, I could understand. After years though, same company generic, just seems unlikely to me. 😕

3·2 years agoI’ve been wondering how you were doing. Hopefully this will help something at least! I finally got to see the movement disorder specialist and he decided my muscle tremors were a side effect from medication. That I’ve been on for years and haven’t changed recently. bangs head against wall Back to square zero! I really hope this works out for you. Keep us posted.
I have a cat named Scooter, too. Scooters of the world unite! If there’s treats involved.
Would that help?
BD1sHappyFeet@lemm.eetochronicpain@lemmy.world•My spinal tap just made my pain worse a few weeks backEnglish
2·2 years agoHoly shit, my friend. I don’t fall but sometimes I get the strangest sensation when walking, like the certainty that I’m doing Walking wrong somehow and what I’m doing is Not How Walking Is Supposed To Work. If that makes any sense at all.
When I tense up, I tend to notice when I reach the point of my back is arched up as high as I physically can. I’ve literally changed position from normal laying on my back to what it looks like when you see someone get hit with a defib on tv. Without even being aware of it. Stupid muscles.
Percocet was my jam when I was going through chemo. I think I was probably high about 90% of the time for a full six months, which was infinitely better than chemo pain. I’m taking gabapentin 600 now, mostly just to control the pain from my sciatic nerve. I did a steroid epidural last year which knocked out that pain completely for a solid year, but now that it’s worn off my spinal surgeon doesn’t want to do another one until we find out what else is going on. I understand that, but also pain! Ugh.
You’re super young to have all this going on. I’m almost twice your age. I hope they get some answers for you soon and a reasonable pain management solution. Have you tried pot? Idk what the laws are like where you are. I have my medical card so I can get it, but it’s all out of pocket because insurance won’t cover it. It has helped me some, but it’s hit or miss.

2·2 years agoOmg. I’ve never come across someone else with my same weird body shit. I’m about to pick your brain.
The full body twitches. What the hell is that‽ It started with just my legs and only when laying down. At this point it’s gone to my entire body, when I’m relaxed. Not to be confused with when I suddenly realize that every muscle is super tense. I’ve done scans of my entire back, normal other than two degenerate discs. Blood work, normal. Thyroid, normal. Nerve conduction tests, normal. I have an appointment with a movement disorder specialist next month. Wtf is this? Or anything I should specifically check for? I’m so damn tired of going from one doctor to another to get the same damn answer: they don’t know.
I’m really sorry the spinal tap has put you in hell.

I’ve heard that before. Feel like it’s not actually her quote.
And it used to take SO LONG for all of it to load!
Jesus looks like a woman with stick on facial hair and the hands of Emperor Palpatine. The driver looks like Bruce Campbell with a smaller chin. I feel like this means I should put down the phone and go to bed.

You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK: there's a type of common hallucination (often scary) that happens shortly after waking up. You can move and talk while seeing it and it can last between a few seconds up to a minute
3·2 years agoYes! I’m talking and making perfect sense, then it slowly dawns on me that what I’m talking about was actually what I was just dreaming and not reality. Even though I know what happened, it leaves me confused as all hell.

7·2 years agoRAGE. In the middle of a busy road. So they wanted the poor baby dead but were too fucking cowardly to do it themselves. I hate people. Have your pets spayed or neutered, folks.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m ecstatic that you saved him. I just hate irresponsible pet owners and people who are that callous towards the life of an innocent creature.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People of Lemmy, have you ever had what some would consider a "spiritual" experience?
1·2 years agoI understand what you’re saying. Thanks for answering.

Oof. Socks are generally not considered a beginner’s project, I’m afraid. Turning the heel and stitching the toe together at the end are easier done once you have a bit of comfort with what you’re doing. You don’t have to be an expert, though; even a couple of dishcloths could get you well on your way.
