Perchance - Create a Random Text Generator@lemmy.world•[Guide/Feedback] How to survive the current model and some thoughts about itEnglish
3·2 months agoHello my friend, First of all, thank you and well done I think this might be the best post I’ve seen here. It’s an excellent piece of feedback and also extremely informative. I completely agree with you; I don’t think DeepSeek is a suitable model for this kind of task either.
I’m also one of those people who use AI chat frequently and have been most negatively affected by this change. By the way, I wanted to ask you something: personally, I believe everyone should create their own roleplay instruction in a way that suits their individual style, since everyone’s approach is different.
However, I don’t really want to spend hours struggling and experimenting to write a “writing instruction” that might end up inconsistent it could work well one day and completely fail the next. During your testing, which custom writing instruction gave you the best and most positive results?

Perchance - Create a Random Text Generator@lemmy.world•[dev] New text model is still quite bad sorry - working on itEnglish
6·2 months agoThanks for the update and for your work, Dev! Also, can you enlighten us about the context text window? Should we expect any developments, or is it a long shot?

Perchance - Create a Random Text Generator@lemmy.world•The Problem Of Lack Of Information And UncertaintyEnglish
5·4 months agoYou got me, my friend because my writing was created by AI in a way. :) Not in terms of content, but in terms of English translation. Since English is not my native language, i didn’t write in my broken English.
Back to the Topic: I agree with what you’re saying and I understand. The only thing I want to point out is that I think it would be healthier if the dev came out today and said something like, “Hey, I’ve got a lot on my plate and I can’t really focus right now, so I’m postponing the update for now.” It’s not a problem if the update stops or progresses slowly. As I mentioned in my post above, it would be cruel to expect him to submit daily reports or do these things on the exact date he said, and such a thing cannot be expected. But an occasional word from him wouldn’t hurt anyone.
This period of uncertainty isn’t having a positive effect; it’s having a negative one. Uncertainty also creates high expectations and pressure. And if these expectations are not met, people may end up unhappy. (I think we all remember what happened when the image generator was updated. If you ask me, the update was successful, but there were still many people who were unhappy and angry about it, and I think one of the reasons for this “lack of information.” )
But I think staying in touch will both reduce the burden on the Developer’s shoulders and somewhat appease the users. So I’m trying to look at the situation from both sides, like you.
Because it’s a free service and, in my opinion, it’s extremely successful in this regard. Yes, we shouldn’t be too picky about what’s put in front of us. We should be grateful. But I don’t think people who spend their time here and love this place should have to pay a fee just to know where they’re going. I believe this is everyone’s most natural right.
Hello my friend! Thank you for your comment and your opinion! I had also checked out the post you shared earlier, and I mentioned there as well that it was extremely helpful. So thank you again for that too.
As for the model’s current state of course it’s not perfect or flawless. I want to clarify that so it’s not misunderstood. It still needs improvement, and it should be improved. But if we think back to when the model first came out with all those hallucinations, weird nonsense characters appearing out of nowhere, not even getting the character’s name right, and until just a few weeks ago barely being able to form proper sentences its current state is, for me, real progress. And I just wanted to highlight that. So this post is more like saying to the dev, “Whatever you’re doing, you’re on the right track (for now).”
The repetition issue still continues, especially as the topic or story goes on. Based on my own observations (I’m talking about ACC here), its creativity drops after about every 10 messages of three paragraphs each, and it keeps declining. That initial creativity and originality start to disappear. Those parts still definitely need improvement. And I still strongly believe the context window needs to be increased significantly.
But other than that, considering the version it started with and the awful state it was in even just a few weeks ago, there has been progress.
Edit: Today I tried again and I think the quality has dropped again. While I was writing my post, it was giving high-quality answers
